Students can “Log in with Edmodo” with or without teacher approval.
Students who are in grade 9 and above will be able to log in and authorize an application to read their user profile and group information. However, no group information will be shared until the teacher authorizes the application to access that teacher’s group(s). The application will only be able to read that student’s first name, last name, and avatar.
Students who are in grade 8 and below will be able to log in and authorize an application to read their Edmodo ID. User profile and group information will not be shared with the application until the students’ teacher authorizes the application as well. This allows students to immediately log in and experience game play, access content, etc. until the application is authorized by the teacher to read group information.
The API will only provide information about groups and group memberships if the group’s owner has logged in and authorized the app. For example, assume a student is a member of “Group A,” “Group B,” and “Group C.” Their teacher is the owner of “Group A” and “Group C,” and has logged in to your app using Edmodo Connect, but the owner of “Group B” has not done so. Your app will not see “Group B” when getting the groups or memberships through the API.
